Returns Controller

Monday to Friday | 8am - 5pm
March, Cambridgeshire

Background

This is a new role within the business with the position being born when the need for tighter returns controls and a single point of contact with sole responsibility for the management of the returns function was identified. This is for our Wimblington site, handling around 230 returns per month from a variety of customer contracts.

Contract details

Salary – £25,000 per annum
Hours of work – 45 per week 08:00 – 17:00 with 1hr for lunch Mon-Fri
Holiday entitlement – 28 days including bank holidays

Key responsibilities

The role comprises of two main functions which is to identify and record returns received into the depot and then adjust the stock back onto our WMS once processed.

While this is the main purpose of the job role, the position will require regular manual handling of damaged goods and use of a PPT/counterbalance FLT. While a current FLT license or previous FLT experience is preferred, we can provide in-house training to industry standard.

With the above description in mind, we’re looking for someone with:

Positive attitude – Returns is a never ending task with varied amounts of pallets received at differing frequencies. We need someone who won’t be disheartened by the constant fluctuation in workload.

Data driven – To facilitate continuous improvement, can produce weekly reports of work undertaken from the previous week working with Excel spreadsheets and our WMS.

Hands on – A lot of the stock returned may be damaged, we will need someone to frequently role their sleeves up and isolate damaged items (up to 25kg – but assistance provided for any heavy items) for recycling by removing them from affected pallets.

Team player – While they will work uniquely on the returns functions, they will liaise with inventory, goods in teams, customer service, transport and the client directly. Communication is key to this role.

Problem solver – There will be times when a process is not followed and investigations will need to be conducted working with the aforementioned teams to identify what has been received and why.
