The role comprises of one main function. Oversee the accuracy of the stock we’re holding for our customers by consistently completing PI checks, empty location checks, product stock checks and producing reports based on the results of this data.
You will require a scissor lift license to access the highest levels of racking. You will be trained to operate this equipment to industry standard (if required). Working at height in the scissor lift for extended periods will be required.
While this is the main purpose of the job role, the position will entail a variety of other ad-hoc inventory related tasks such as auditing slow moving stock, reporting any damaged racking or bays, conducting daily checks on pick faces and assisting with the cleanliness of the aisles you’ll be working in.
The redefined scope of the inventory assistant role should prove exciting and rewarding. We want someone who will relish the challenge of “Owning” their stock and their customer while working collaboratively with other departments to improve customer and operational service levels.
With the above description in mind, do you possess the following attributes?
Positive attitude – The purpose of this role is to audit the inbound/outbound operational performance with your checks. In order to ensure accuracy, you will need to make multiple checks throughout the day and not be disheartened when the accuracy is not as good as it was the day before.
Data management – To facilitate continuous improvement, you will produce weekly reports of work undertaken from the previous week, working with Excel spreadsheets and our WMS to drive the change in standards we expect from our operatives.
Hands on approach – You will need to be able to handle up to 25kg as cases on a pallet may need arranging to count the total. You will also be operating a scissor lift in narrow aisles and at height.
Team player mind-set – While you will work uniquely with your specific customer’s stock, you will liaise with other inventory assistants, goods in teams, customer service, transport and the client directly. Communication is key to this role.
Problem solving skills – There will be times when a process is not followed and investigations will be conducted working with the aforementioned teams and our WMS to identify the problem. You will enjoy the challenge of solving problems and reporting your findings with your data captures.
Desire for ownership – We require someone who will make this their own, streamline processes as they see fit and take responsibility to know the status of their stores and stock at any given moment.
